Tile

_

Tile is ceramic and pottery product that is used in the coating process. Tile is also called artificial stone. Ceramic tile products consist of fine crystalline and porous grains that are usually baked at temperatures above 1000 Centigrade  and produced in a variety of enameled and regular.

The enameled surface of the tile may be glossy, semi-glossy, matte, plain, floral, white or colored. Of course, we know that in general, non-organic, non-mineral solid and non-metallic materials are called ceramics, which according to this definition, tiles are also considered a type of ceramic.

Tile is divided into two categories: walls & floors . Floor tile is called ceramic in  market. Therefore, according to the main definition of ceramics, the term ceramics in the market is actually the same as floor tiles, and we mean the same ceramic tiles and not the general definition of ceramics. In other words, the difference between wall tiles and floor tiles is in its resistance against moisture absorption and the quality of enameled cast on it, and if the enamel on the tile is made of ceramic, it is called ceramic.

Ceramic tiles are the main products of clay and earthenware. Ceramic tiles cover the surface of sanitary spaces in homes as well as hospitals.

Nowadays, due to the variety of designs, sizes, and resistant enameled surfaces tiles are used in other public and private spaces in addition to different chemical environments such as factories with chemical environment  and laboratories.

:Tile has two parts

Earthenware part that forms the main core of the tile.

Enamel on surface, which is a glassy substance made of glass, metal oxides and minerals.

Tiles have different types and varieties. Being enameled or not enameled is the most important factor in distinguishing different types of tiles. The degree of tile porosity is also of secondary importance. The color of enameled tiles can be included in the tile texture. This color can be a natural clay color, or a pigment that has been added to he clay before baking the tile.

In some cases, in enameled tiles, the paint (usually a mixture of lead silicate and pigments) is applied to the enameled surface after cooking the main core. Afterwards, the tile is put back in the furnace to mix the glass with earthenware . Enameled tiles come in a variety of colors, designs and textures compared to tiles with out enamel.
